The biggest obstacle for an international student is paying for college. College is very expensive. While there are not very many scholarships for international students, there are quite a few if you know where to look.

Most international students get their scholarships through their collegesí financial aid office. Please consult them and they will show you all options available to you.

The options are not be as many as those available for citizens, but there are several scholarships available to international students.

International students can qualify for some special interest scholarships. There are some available for students who are first in their family to attend college. So if you are the first person in your family to attend college, you can apply for this one.

There are some scholarships specifically for racial minorities. In the United States, that includes blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans. You can apply for this if you belong to these racial groups.

If you are good in sports and athletics, you can easily get an athletic scholarship that will pay for all your college expenses. Many talented athletes study for free in foreign universities in exchange for playing for the university teams. Sports is a major thing in American colleges. Schools with good sports teams make a lot of money, hence they have money to support their athletes.

Fulbright Scholarship Program is a US government scholarship program available to International students. It is mainly available for students pursuing University teaching, Advanced Research, Graduate study and teaching in primary and secondary schools. However, they don't sponsor Medical studies.
